Warum ist Sehverlust ein Risikofaktor für Demenz?
| Mechanismen: | Gemeinsame Ursachen mit anderen Erkrankungen: Sowohl Sehverlust als auch Demenz können durch Krankheiten wie Diabetes verursacht werden. Möglicherweise gibt es gemeinsame krankhafte Veränderungen in Auge und Gehirn. Direkte Auswirkungen: Weniger visuelle Reize können das Gehirn beeinträchtigen. Je stärker der Sehverlust, desto höher das Demenzrisiko. Soziale Isolation und Depression: Sehverlust führt oft zu sozialer Isolation. Soziale Isolation erhöht das Risiko für Depressionen. Sowohl Isolation als auch Depression sind bekannte Demenzrisikofaktoren (siehe oben). |
