Webinar: Erinnerungs_reich – Museen als Medizin für Menschen mit Demenz

Webinar: Memory Richness - Museums as Medicine for People with Dementia

A museum visit is far more than a leisure activity – it offers an opportunity to escape the everyday and view the world from new perspectives. Paintings, sculptures, and colors inspire, stimulate thought, and are connected to memories. A new study shows: People with dementia and their caregivers can particularly benefit from these positive experiences. Museum visits can, for example, alleviate depressive symptoms in people with dementia and increase the well-being of their caregivers.

In the upcoming webinar, we will present Dr. med. Dr. phil. Michael Wächter Study results of the project „Remembrance_Rich: Museums as Medicine for People with Dementia.“ He works as a research and medical associate at the Medical Faculty of the Technical University of Dresden and led the project. With his interdisciplinary expertise as a physician, theologian, and art historian, he will explain to what extent museum visits can be used as non-pharmacological therapy for people with dementia and how their caregivers can also benefit.
