The Digital Dementia Registery Bavaria (or digiDEM Bayern) is based on the results of its predecessor, the Bavarian Dementia Survey (BayDem). It is a healthcare research project that focuses on digital technology, and it is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care and Prevention (StMGP). The project is a long-term study of all administrative districts in Bavaria. digiDEM Bayern focuses on the care of people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia, as well as their carers and relatives. The project's goal is to make life better for people with MCI/dementia and their family and friends in Bavaria, especially in rural areas, and to understand more about how complicated dementia can be and how it progresses over time.
Our Value Proposition
We contribute to the improvement of care for people with cognitive impairments.
We promote relief for caregivers and relatives with digital offers.
We as intermediaries support politics with our registry data in their supply planning.
We raise awareness in society about dementia.
Digitalisation is presented as a response to the challenge
Innovative solutions are needed to optimise dementia care, especially in home settings. Digitisation is one such possibility. Digital technologies have the significant advantage of being available at all times, regardless of budget constraints or the number of service providers. This means they can complement and expand medical and nursing services, particularly in rural areas with poor infrastructure. The digiDEM Bavaria healthcare research project is an example of a digital research and care approach for dementia.
The 'digiDEM Bayern' project has three main pillars: Firstly, a dementia registry will be set up to study the progression of the disease and the care situation of those affected and their families. Secondly, digital support services will be developed and made available. Thirdly dementia screenings for prevention and early detection.
Setting up a dementia registry:

The aim of evaluating the dementia registry is to improve the living conditions of people with dementia, as well as their relatives and carers, throughout Bavaria.
