The Digital Dementia Registry Bavaria project, or digiDEM Bavaria for short, builds upon the results of its predecessor project, the Bavarian Dementia Survey (BayDem). It is a digitally oriented care research project funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (StMGP). The project is a long-term study conducted in all administrative districts of Bavaria. digiDEM Bavaria addresses the care of people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia, as well as their caregivers. The project aims to improve the living conditions of people with MCI/dementia and their caregivers in Bavaria, particularly in rural areas, and to better understand the clinical complexity and long-term progression of dementia.
Our Value Proposition
We contribute to the improvement of care for people with cognitive impairments.
We promote relief for caregivers and relatives with digital offers.
We Intermediaries, and we support politics with our registry data in their supply planning.
We raise awareness in society about dementia.
Digitalization as the answer to the challenge
To optimize dementia care, especially in home settings, innovative solutions are needed. Digitization offers one possibility. Digital technologies have the significant advantage of being available at all times, regardless of time budget and the number of service providers. This means they can complement and expand medical and nursing services, particularly in structurally weak rural regions. The healthcare research project digiDEM Bavaria is an example of a digital research and care approach for dementia.
The „digiDEM Bayern“ project consists of three pillars: Firstly, a dementia registry will be established to research the course of the disease and the care situation of those affected and their relatives. Secondly, digital support services will be developed and provided, and dementia screenings will be offered for prevention and early detection.
Setting up a dementia registry:

The insights gained from the evaluations of the dementia registry are intended to help improve the living conditions of people with dementia and their relatives and caregivers throughout Bavaria.
