As a care project for people with dementia and their relatives, one point is particularly important for the Digital Dementia Register Bavaria: to be represented throughout Bavaria, especially in rural regions. Only in this way can care gaps be identified in order to improve the situation for those affected. On December 2, Prof. Dr. med. Elmar Gräßel will present digiDEM Bavaria in Cham. The Cham District Office, as a "Gesundheitsregion plus" (Health Region plus), invites all interested parties, potential study participants, and cooperation partners such as nursing services, medical practices, and memory clinics to the event.

Prof. Dr. med. Elmar Gräßel, head of the Center for Medical Care Research at the University Hospital Erlangen, will explain the background and content of the project. digiDEM Bayern is founded on two pillars: Firstly, a Bavaria-wide dementia registry will be established to better understand the long-term progression of the disease and thus improve care planning. For this purpose, comprehensive long-term data on the care of people with dementia and the burden on their relatives will be collected in all seven administrative districts of Bavaria. Secondly, digiDEM Bayern will set up an online platform with support services for people with dementia, their relatives, and volunteers. The project aims to improve the living conditions of those affected by the disease and their relatives, especially in rural regions.
To build the nationwide registry, digiDEM Bavaria is currently looking for cooperation partners to interview people with dementia and their relatives. Cooperation partners will receive reimbursement for their expenses in recruiting and interviewing participants.
