Since 1994, German long-term care insurance has covered some of the risks associated with needing care. A comprehensive reform in 2016 fundamentally changed the definition of needing care: since then, not only physical but also mental and psychological limitations in self-sufficiency are equally considered when assessing care needs. People with dementia and their caregivers, in particular, benefit from this legal adjustment.
In this webinar, Susanna Saxl-Reisen will provide an overview of the benefits offered by long-term care insurance, specifically for individuals with dementia and their caregivers and family members. Susanna Saxl-Reisen is the Deputy Managing Director of German Alzheimer Society e.V. Self-Help Dementia based in Berlin. She has played a leading role in the creation of the „Guide to Long-Term Care Insurance“ and the information sheet „Long-Term Care Insurance“ by the German Alzheimer's Society e.V. Self-Help Dementia. In the webinar, you will learn, among other things, how to apply for a care level and what benefits long-term care insurance covers. It will also explain what monthly and annual contributions – such as the relief amount of 131 Euros – can be used for.
