digiDEM Bayern can proudly look back on the first regional dementia population screening in Germany. The screening day took place successfully in July 2022 in Thüngersheim, Lower Franconia, near Würzburg.

Nearly 50 citizens took advantage of the short distances and the opportunity to have their memory performance checked free of charge and with the help of a scientific short test.
digiDEM Bayern and the Kommunale Allianz Main-Wein-Garten e.V. extended the invitation. A total of eight municipalities from the districts of Würzburg and Main-Spessart participated in the initiative for early dementia detection.
Exemplary model project
The digiDEM Bavaria screening program serves as an exemplary model project for other Bavarian cities and municipalities. “The cooperation between Bavarian municipalities and digiDEM Bavaria, as well as our research partners, is another central and important step towards timely dementia diagnosis,” says digiDEM Bavaria project leader Prof. Dr. med. Peter Kolominsky-Rabas. This is because early certainty is of great importance for people with cognitive impairments and their relatives.
Please note: Conducting population screening is intended for trained digiDEM Bavaria research partners who wish to promote early detection of dementia in cooperation with Bavarian municipalities or local initiatives. Our digiDEM research partners can find the necessary documents in our internal area for research partners.
